2015 Football Season Highlights
M
ansfield ISD’s 2015 high school football season was marked
with many competitive achievements and historic firsts. Four
MISD high schools advanced to playoffs: Lake Ridge High,
Mansfield High, Summit High, and Timberview High. Mansfield
High accompished a school first by advancing to the state semifinal
game. Also, Lake Ridge High made history by becoming the first
football team in MISD’s 106-year history to play in the UIL state
championship game.
Check out some additional highlights from this season:
Lake Ridge High School
• Fourth year of varsity football for the school.
• 0-10 in the first year of varsity football, but was 15-0 heading into the
state championship.
• Quarterback, Jett Duffey received the Landry Award for best football
player in the DFW area, and was named Mr. Texas Football 2015.
• Defeated the two-time defending state champion Aledo Bearcats in the
semifinals before being defeated by the George Ranch Longhorns in
the state championship.
Mansfield High School
• Won district championship for the first time in 42 years.
• First time in school history advancing to the state semifinal.
• Won 11 straight games to advance to the semifinals. They were
defeated by Lake Travis.
• Junior running back Kennedy Brooks was a nominee for the Landry
Award, which is given to DFW’s top player.
