MANSFIELD ISD HONORS SHINING STAR EMPLOYEES
Everybody plays a vital role in the education of students . The Mansfield ISD Shining Star Award puts a spotlight on non-teaching staff members for their exceptional service and contributions to MISD students and staff members .
After submissions from the community , three employees were chosen to receive the Shining Star Award . This year ’ s Shining Star Award recipients are Mark Williamson , Kim Murphree and Martavius McDonald . They often work behind the scenes , but their impact is felt throughout the district .

Nominators said Williamson was a great leader through the February winter storm as well . With his quick actions and preventative measures , he helped save the district thousands of dollars in damage .
Martavius McDonald
Martavius McDonald is an MISD bus driver . He has a passion for what he does and for serving students . He treats every student as if they were his own and is known for his welcoming demeanor , positive energy and encouraging nature with all of his students .
Mark Williamson
Mark Williamson has worked in MISD for 19 years . He has been the director of maintenance for 13 of those years . Williamson enjoys assisting the school administrators and staff with their needs to help facilitate student learning .

Kim Murphree
Kim Murphree has been with Mansfield ISD since 2005 . She currently serves as an educational technology trainer , supporting all of the teachers and staff in technology integration .
“ She ’ s had some very innovative practices that help our team reach teacher support and parent / student support ,” said Jan North , director of instructional technology . “ Her work has impacted across the district .”
Colleagues also said that Murphree can often be seen helping others and using her skills to make a difference .
“ He ’ s engaging with people . He smiles with people . He will greet his students by name ,” said David Walker , director of transportation . “ That type of interaction really bonds him with people .”
After experiencing the tragedy of losing his own daughter in 2020 , McDonald said he finds joy in seeing his students every day . He noted that through tragedy , he has been inspired to focus daily on becoming a better bus driver .
The three winners were announced and recognized at the 2021 MISD Employee Awards Reception on Thursday , May 13 .
