Mansfield ISD has once again earned one of the highest recognitions given by the U . S . Environmental Protection Agency ( EPA ).

The district received the 2021 ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year — Sustained Excellence Award .
The Partner of the Year Award is given to entities that perform at a superior level of energy management and prove organization-wide energy savings .
The Sustained Excellence designation is given to organizations that have already received ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year recognition for a minimum of two consecutive years .
This is the eighth year MISD has won the Partner of the Year and the sixth year the district has held its Sustained Excellence distinction .
Since the start of the MISD Energy Management Program in 2012 , MISD has achieved a cost avoidance of more than $ 14 million in water , electricity and natural gas costs .
The district ’ s conservation efforts have prevented carbon dioxide emissions by 55,370 metric tons , an amount equivalent to about 11,500 cars being driven for a full year .
“ We were one of only six school districts in the country to have received the Sustained Excellence award and the only one in the great state of Texas ,” said Kelly Campbell , MISD energy conservation specialist .
“ On that stage , MISD joins the ranks of international companies such as Toyota , 3M and General Motors . I ’ m excited to keep the program moving forward as we ensure a lasting positive impact on the environment , hold on to needed resources for our students and staff , and prove that we continue to be good stewards of taxpayer dollars .”
In addition to the award , MISD has earned more than 300 ENERGY STAR building certifications since 2006 , more than any other school district in the state .
