Janet Brockett Elementary School held a special event to honor the school’s first kindergarten class. Those students will be graduating high school this year. The Jerry Knight Stem Academy didn’t let May 4 pass without a nod to Star Wars. The date is known as Star Wars Day for a pun on the catchphrase, “May the Force be with you.” A pre-kindergarten class at Judy K. Miller Elementary School is proving that MISD kids are ahead of the game. The students know their ABCs, 123s and all the U.S. presidents. It was a magical day for an Erma Nash Elementary School student. She was surprised in class by Make-A-Wish with a trip to Disney World! Out of more than 300 schools nationwide, some fourth-graders at Tarver-Rendon Elementary School are leading the pack in an online stock market game. They’re mainly competing against high school students. Students and staff helped spread the word about MISD’s Community “Give Back” Nights in May. Eating at select locations helped raise money to give MISD students backpacks and school supplies. Mansfield School & Family 29
