Three Schools Earn Championship Titles in UIL Academics H undreds of Mansfield ISD students showcased their intellectual prowess at the 2017 University Interscholastic League (UIL) A+ Academics district competition on Feb. 10 and 11. Students in grades 2-8 participated in activities, such as math, science, speaking and chess, that provided them with the opportunity to demonstrate mastery of specific skills and motivated them to acquire higher levels of knowledge. Campus participants competed in individual events to earn points. Those points are then added up to determine which team has the highest total score. In the elementary school category, Elizabeth Smith Elementary School took home the first place trophy for the third year in a row. The team from Asa Low Intermediate School was named district champions for the second year in a row in the intermediate school category. Among the middle schools, Brooks Wester Middle School earned the championship title. 4 Mansfield School & Family The team from Elizabeth Smith Elementary School celebrated its third consecutive victory. More than 500,000 students across the state participate in UIL academic contests each year. Congratulations to the winning MISD teams and all of the students, teachers and campus coordinators who dedicated themselves to making this event a success.
