Three Schools Earn Championship Titles in UIL Academics
H
undreds of Mansfield ISD students showcased
their intellectual prowess at the 2017 University
Interscholastic League (UIL) A+ Academics district
competition on Feb. 10 and 11.
Students in grades 2-8 participated in activities, such as
math, science, speaking and chess, that provided them
with the opportunity to demonstrate mastery of specific
skills and motivated them to acquire higher levels of
knowledge.
Campus participants competed in individual events to
earn points. Those points are then added up to determine
which team has the highest total score.
In the elementary school category, Elizabeth Smith
Elementary School took home the first place trophy
for the third year in a row. The team from Asa Low
Intermediate School was named district champions
for the second year in a row in the intermediate school
category. Among the middle schools, Brooks Wester
Middle School earned the championship title.
