Mary Orr Intermediate Choir Selected to Sing at State Convention T he sixth graders in Mary Orr Intermediate School’s choir received one of the greatest honors for young Texas musicians. The group of 120 students was selected to perform at the 2016 Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) Convention in San Antonio. Only six groups in the elementary-age category were chosen in the entire state to perform at the convention. The decision was made by a group of TMEA judges who reviewed a recording sent in by choir director Christi Powell. The Mary Orr choir is the first performance group from Mansfield ISD to be selected by TMEA. Powell said her choir group prepared for the Feb. 11 concert since the beginning of the school year.
