MISD LAUNCHES VISION 2030 STUDENT SCORECARD
Mansfield ISD ’ s strategic plan ,
Vision 2030 , is a reflection of the great responsibility schools have — to ensure students are prepared for the real world .
The mission , vision , values and guiding statements of the plan were put into place to ensure that all MISD students graduate college , career and life ready .
An important component of Vision 2030 is the student scorecard . The scorecard combines technology and educator support to assist students with developing critical skills for success beyond high school . It includes various research-based college-readiness , career-readiness and life-readiness indicators so that students can track their progress .
The Vision 2030 scorecards were rolled out districtwide to all students in October . Before then , high school student leaders from across the district met to brainstorm ways to spread the news of the scorecards to their peers .
During the Sept . 21 meeting , high school students learned about the sections of the scorecard . They are using the information they learned to create videos that will be shared to other student groups .
“ I think it was a great way to see all the student leaders from all the student councils and MISD and collaborate ideas , be able to showcase what we know , and how to implement this idea into students ’ minds in order for them to understand ,” said Leah Richard , senior at Mansfield High School .
Student scorecards are broken down into four levels — kindergarten through fourth grade , fifth through sixth grade , seventh through eighth grade , and ninth through 12th grade . More information about the scorecard is available at mansfieldisd . org / Vision2030 .
TWO TRUSTED HEROES NAMED
Mansfield ISD launched a new recognition program to celebrate employees who demonstrate excellence in supporting students and staff members . The recognition , called the Trusted Hero Award , will be presented to four staff members each year — two in the fall and two in the spring .
Each honoree will receive a $ 250 check and will be formally recognized at a board meeting .
The Fall 2021 Texas Trust Hero Award winners are Leighann
Spence , nurse at Thelma Jones Elementary School , and Victoria Webster , Mansfield ISD director of STEM . They were surprised with the news on Monday , Oct . 18 .
Leighann Spence is described as a tireless worker who has gone to
great lengths through the years , particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic , to ensure her school family is healthy and safe .
Victoria Webster is described as someone who puts her entire heart and soul into the district STEM program . In addition to her STEM duties , Webster served as the administrator of the district ’ s temporary virtual learning option , comprised of more than 1,350 students and 60 teachers .
The Trusted Hero Award is made possible through the district ’ s partnership with Texas Trust Credit Union . Nominations are submitted by district staff members .
