Taking Care of Nutritional Needs
In addition to technology , Mansfield ISD is ensuring all students are still receiving a nutritious and delicious meal , no matter what learning environment they are in .
Virtual learners and all other individuals are able to receive the free meals curbside on every school day from 10:30 a . m . to 12:30 p . m . at any of the participating sites .
All children up to age 18 and adults with special needs up to age 21 can receive one free breakfast and lunch meal every school day .
The free meals are being made possible due to waivers placed by the U . S . Department of Agriculture ( USDA ) that extended the free summer meals program to guarantee all children have access to nutritious food .
In-person learners at all MISD campuses have access to their meals
MISD ’ s Student Nutrition workers continued providing meals to the community since the spring shutdown .
as usual during their designated meal periods at no cost .
Second meals , additional entrees , sides and snacks will be available for in-person learners to purchase .
The free packaged meals are distributed in a drive-thru fashion . No one needs to exit personal vehicles ; and if the child is not present , a form of ID or proof of enrollment will need to be presented on site .
Walkers and bike riders are also welcome to grab a meal to go .
The fall free meals service started Oct . 1 and will last through Thursday , Dec . 17 .

Superintendent Dr . Kimberley Cantu said the dedication of MISD staff members and the support from parents and community members from the spring shutdown to this school ’ s fall reopening has not gone unnoticed .
“ It takes a team to provide a topnotch education , and I am proud of the amazing team members we have here in the MISD community who have remained flexible and creative to make everything possible ,” Dr . Cantu explained . “ They all are incredible , and together , We are MISD Strong !”
