375 MISD Students Earn Advanced Placement Scholar Awards
• 256 students earned the AP Scholar Award, given to
students who earn a score of three or higher on three or
more AP Exams.
• 45 students earned the AP Scholar with Honor Award,
given to students who earn an average score of at least
3.25 on all AP Exams taken with scores of three or
higher on four or more of these exams.

ansfield ISD is proud to announce that 375
MISD high school students earned a total of
389 Advanced Placement (AP) Scholar Awards in
recognition of their outstanding achievement on the
2016 AP Exams. This is 37 more students and 45 more
awards than last year.
AP courses are college-level classes available to high
school students. AP exams are given after completion
of the course. The highest score possible is a five,
and students have the ability to earn college credit
depending on the score earned on the exam.
• 74 students earned the AP Scholar with Distinction
Award, given to students who earn an average score of
at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken with scores of three
or higher on five or more of these exams.
• 14 students earned the National AP Scholar Award,
given to students who earn an average score of four
or higher on all AP Exams taken with scores
of four or higher on eight or more of these exams.
Also, three MISD middle schools (Rogene Worley,
James Coble and Linda Jobe) have an AP Spanish class
for native Spanish speakers. The passing rate for these
campuses was 81 percent.

for the 2016 State of
Texas Assessments of
Academic Readiness
(STAAR) exam,
and Mansfield ISD
outperformed state
averages in all
categories!

improvements from previous years, and we’re proud
