NEW PREMIER LEAGUE STADIUMS IN THE PIPELINE
TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR NEW STADIUM
The largest stadium construction project in the Premier League, the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium sits on the site of their previous stadium. The new venue will hold over 60,000 spectators and will be suitable for both football matches and NFL American football games as well. Planned for opening later this year, the stadium will be the new king of grounds in the Premier League. The NFL contributed to the projects in exchange for allowing at least two NFL games to be played per year in the new stadium. On October 14th 2018, the NFL's Oakland Raiders will faceoff against the Seattle Seahawks further paving the way for a permanent NFL franchise in London. Meanwhile, the Hotspurs will play their first game at their new grounds next season.
CHELSEA RECONSTRUCTED STADIUM
Chelsea was unable to find a location for their new stadium plans in their area of London, so the current site of Stamford Bridge will likely be the home of the new stadium. With a current capacity of 41,000, Stamford Bridge is easily behind the homes of Manchester United, Arsenal, West Ham, and Tottenham’s new stadium. The new 60,000 seat stadium will replace the current venue after its demolition. Chelsea has eyes on a 2021 opening for the venue and will cost roughly £500 million to construct.
EVERTON NEW STADIUM
Everton signed an 200 -year agreement recently to lease land on Bramley Moore Dock which will be the site of their new 50,000 seat stadium. As per Sky Sports, Bramley Moore Dock has long been the preferred option of the club and will form part of a £5bn Liverpool Waters scheme subject to planning consent. Everton wants to move into the new stadium for the 2022/23 season, but costs continue to rise. With their current stadium showing its age, the new stadium will be a vastly improved home for the team.
