Xbox One X:

The World's Most Powerful Console

DECEMBER 2017 | MANE INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY | 9

November 7th, Microsoft released its most powerful console ever, Xbox One X.

The console is a major spec-update to the original Xbox One console released just four years ago and it goes head-to-head against Sony's PS4 Pro released just last year. The new console packs a ton of horsepower in what Microsoft says is its smallest console ever. The Xbox One X promises to deliver an immersive 4K gaming experience with 40% more power than any other console on the market.

The console is built around the scorpio engine - the custom silicon chip is the world’s most powerful console gaming processor. Faster processing means smoother gameplay. More memory means bigger worlds, further horizons, and quicker load times. The 6 Teraflop GPU enables 4K environments and characters to become more realistic than ever, with more detail and smoother animations.

The console will play all Xbox One games released to date with a large number of releases being specifically enhanced for 4K-enabled displays. All Xbox One accessories including controllers will work on the Xbox One X so you can continue using your current peripherals without hesitation. Backwards compatibility on the platform also means you can enjoy a selection of original Xbox and Xbox 360 titles as well - some backwards compatible titles will be enhanced to run noticeably better on the Xbox One X.

If you already have a 4K TV or are in the market for one, then the Xbox One should be a no-brainer. This is the first home console that will run games natively at 4K resolution - some even in 60 FPS. The console also plays 4K UHD Blu-ray discs. The Xbox One X, alongside the popular Nintendo Switch, will be a hot item for gamers this holiday.

The console comes in a 1TB configuration at a price of £449 ($499 USD).
