Currently twelve projects are under construction in Europe and a further eleven in the rest of the world. Projects which have finished installation and now undergoing commissioning activites include 400MW Global Tech I, 200MW Trianel Borkum Phase I, 576MW Gwynt y Môr, 219MW Humber Gateway, 210MW Westermost Rough and 102.20MW Donghai Bridge Phase II Extension. Irrespective of finance, assessing the volume of consented projects allows an understanding of the capacity in development. It is clear that the planning activity is mainly centered on the two giants of offshore wind, Germany and the UK. Sweden have a large planning pipe although the capacity is lying dormant awaiting regulations on sector specific political support for offshore renewables..

Good progress is being made at projects underway in the construction phases, indicating a productive and successful period for the market in the near-future. Additional projects expected to commence construction this year include 582MW Gode Wind 01 and 02 (Germany), 288MW Sandbank (Germany), 600MW Gemini (Netherlands) and 30MW Block Island (UnitedStates)
