Peter
Shepherd
Peter Shepherd can’t tell you who it was that
showed up at Manchester University three years
ago. He had the same name, but that’s the end of
the resemblance. but building relationships. And his passion
for German, fired by childhood visits with his
maternal grandmother, has literally opened the
entire world to him.
His experiences at Manchester University, where
he’s a professional sales major with a minor in
German, have fundamentally changed who he is,
how he sees the world and how he would like to
fit into it. His German minor enabled him to study
for a semester in Vienna, Austria, and
Marburg, Germany, and to be named a Young
Ambassador to return to Europe in 2017-2018.
He now wants to go into international sales,
combining his passion for the German language
and German culture with what Manchester’s
sales curriculum has taught him about the
value of interpersonal communication.
“I’m constantly interacting with others, and I
find a real joy in that,” he says.
That joy comes in countless ways. He’s played
baseball for the Spartans. He’s learned, through
Manchester’s mission and unique approach to
teaching sales, that sales is not just about selling

and then use it,” he says. “I want to travel
