Accounting, finance and marketing programs
ranked No. 1 in state
Three degree programs in the Arthur L. Gilbert College of Business have
been ranked No. 1 in Indiana as a “Best Value for the Money.” College
Factual bases its annual nationwide ranking on the average yearly cost of
the school, the average time students take to graduate, and the quality the
school provides to students.
“As far as I am concerned, we have the best faculty and staff imaginable
and, in the Gilbert College of Business, they have a single-minded
focus: doing whatever is in the best interest of the students,” says Tim
Ogden ’87, the college’s dean.
Accounting, finance and marketing all placed first in Indiana in the
rankings. Nationally, MU’s accounting and marketing programs were in the
top 5 percent, while finance placed in the top 10 percent.
Manchester also has “incredible students,” added Ogden. “They are smart,
they work hard, they accept responsibility, and they do not cut corners.
Together, this is a potent combination, and it produces results.”
Manchester expanded its accounting program this fall when it launched a
new Master of Accountancy (MACCT) degree. The 3+1 program enables
students to earn a bachelor’s and master’s degree in four years instead of
five, eliminating a year of costs and propelling graduates into their
careers sooner.
The Gilbert College of Business moved from the Academic Center
to the second floor of the new Lockie and Augustus Chinworth
Center before classes started this fall.
MU dedicates Chinworth Center at Homecoming
Manchester dedicated its newest building on Oct. 11, Homecoming weekend.
Students on the North Manchester campus returned this fall to the Lockie and
Augustus Chinworth Center, a two-story facility attached to the north side of
the Jo Young Switzer Center. Chinworth houses the Arthur L. Gilbert College
of Business on the second floor and a range of student services on the first
floor.
The 36,000-square-foot facility is made possible by a gift of more than
$5 million from Herb Chinworth ’42c and is named in honor of his parents.
Also at Homecoming, MU broke ground for a new stadium, which will provide
all-weather surfaces for football, track and field, and a range of recreational
activities.
