MU | A r c h i v e s Arguably the biggest celebrity in the MU Archives is a 6-foot crocodile mask created by the Nuna people of southern Burkina Faso and Ghana, West Africa, and donated by Robert Zigler ’42, who was a U.S. diplomat and art collector. IUPUI student Mallory Johnson used a scanner to make a series of passes over the croc’s entire structure. Through this, she built a body of digital information that could be seen on a computer monitor. This information is now part of MU’s growing 3D gallery and is available to the public by using an internet address or the QR code on this page. The equipment will be located in the Archives and available by appointment. By Jeanine Wine ’76 In photo at left, IUPUI student Mallory Johnson scans MU’s croc in Funderburg Library. This is a work in progress and new objects will be added as they are scanned. A rchives Manchester | 37
