MU | N o t e s In Memoriam James R.C. Adams, professor emeritus James R.C. “Jim” Adams, 90, professor emeritus of art, died Aug. 5, 2019. His wife, Thelma Rohrer ’84, dean of the College of Arts and Humanities, survives him. the art, music, English and Spanish departments and integrated service into his teaching. He embraced interdisciplinary learning and was instrumental in developing Manchester’s First-Year Colloquium. He also was passionate about providing students with study abroad experiences, had traveled in about 50 countries and spoke five languages. On the Manchester faculty from 1957 to 2008, Adams was named U.S. Professor of the Year in 2002. An accomplished artist who won numerous awards for his painting and photography, Adams taught in Adams earned undergraduate degrees from George Washington University and the Corcoran School of Art, and a Master of Fine Arts at the Instituto Allende in Mexico. Austin Adams ’15 of Dowagiac, Mich., serves as a sales manager at Lippert Components. Carly Kwiecien ’19 is the communication director at Friendship Botanical Gardens in Michigan City, Ind. Hannah Schutter ’15 began as a teaching assistant at Fort Wayne Community Schools. Darlene Melvin ’19 is a new residence hall director at Manchester University. Jordan Lett ’16 of Hagerstown, Ind., married Taylor Lett on June 1, 2019. Amy Weeks ’19 is the environmental studies scholar at Manchester University. Brady Forman ’18 is grounds supervisor at Manchester University. Manchester graduates Hannah Cooper ’19 Pharm.D., Christina Ford ’19 Pharm.D., Mike Genday ’19 Pharm.D., Alissa Keillor ’19 Pharm.D., Anna McGowen ’19 Pharm.D., Jonell Nwabueze ’19 Pharm.D., Aakash Patel ’19 Pharm.D., and Evan Beakas ’18 Pharm.D. participated in the Indiana Pharmacy Teaching Certificate Program Conference at Butler University in August. The graduates were there as part of their PGY1 residency or fellowship programs. Engy Kheir ’19 Pharm.D. has published an article with Shekher Mohan, assistant professor of pharmaceutical sciences. “Management and Treatment of Parkinson’s Disease” appears in a recent issue of Pharmacy Times.
