A Life in Horses did not ultimately work together, but it was a positive sign to me that my line was headed in the right direction. Little did I know then, with Anna sleeping in one of my totes as I oversaw the busy popup shop, that she would lead me deeper into horses and the high-level show world than ever before.

Little did I know then, with Anna sleeping in one of my totes as I oversaw the busy popup shop, that she would lead me deeper into horses and the high-level show world than ever before.

Anna’ s first foray into ponies was unsuccessful. Anyone who knows ponies knows that, in the wrong program, they are little more than terrorists in fur suits. The early years for Anna were more frustration than anything.
Soon, Anna’ s tall willowy stature allowed her to transition from ponies to horses and the veritable torch was officially passed to her. By 10 years old, Anna was immersed, by 12 Anna and I were commuting to Florida as much as possible to ride and show multiple horses. Luckily, Anna’ s schools were super supportive.
Both Maple Street School and Burr and Burton Academy in Manchester showed her nothing but unconditional support in her quest to become a top national equitation rider. When Anna was 13, COVID allowed her to spend concentrated time in FL training and after that she spent the next 4 winters there riding anything and everything she could and balancing a heavy academic load. Challenging and fulfilling, Anna showed enough different horses that she competed almost every week of the year, traveling all over much of the year. Throughout her“ junior career,” she earned many Hunter division championships and top equitation placings at the best shows in the country, such as Devon, Wellington, Lake Placid, and almost all the indoor finals, including a 7th and 2nd in the North American Championship at Capital Challenge in consecutive years and a 5th in the Washington International Horse Show final.
