A Life in Horses

My life with horses began almost as soon as I could walk. Growing up in NC, I shuffled between my family’ s thoroughbred farm, and my trainer’ s farm... lines between home and barn blurred. In fact, some of my fondest memories are spending the night in the barn during foaling season, falling asleep to the quiet munching of hay, waiting for mares to foal— drawn from a young age to the quiet magic of it all.

My trainer, Kim Nardelli, figured prominently in my life as a surrogate Mom, taking care of me and the horses at both locations, always with me in tow. Kim was involved in many parts of the horse world: importing, breeding, training, and showing as well as managing her family’ s Thoroughbred business. It was all horses, all the time.
