Manchester Life Magazine enters an exciting chapter with the introduction of its new owners, Jen Kane Paterson and John Paterson, founders of Green Mountain Media Group( GMMG). The Patersons are fresh off completing their first official GMMG publication with Stratton Magazine’ s Winter 2026 issue, which came out in February. Look for the one with snowboarder Zeb Powell on the cover!
Longtime champions of community storytelling and regional media, Jen and John are now the caretakers of a portfolio that includes The Guide, a weekly, digital e-newsletter, and VERMONT Magazine, along with Manchester Life Magazine and Stratton Magazine— publications that are firmly embedded in the culture, character, and people of Vermont. The same dedicated team of writers, editors, and art directors has joined them at GMMG to keep the momentum they’ ve built over the years moving forward.
“ It’ s heartening to see John and Jen’ s commitment to the stewardship of these publications. Our team has been working on them together for so many years now,” says Megan Demarest, Editor-in- Chief of GMMG.“ John has already been a part of our team for over a year, and now we’ ve added Jen’ s enthusiasm and creativity to the mix. It’ s been a blast conceptualizing this season’ s issues with them. I’ m looking forward to more!”
Together, Jen and John share a vision informed by deep professional experience and a genuine personal commitment to the region they call home. John is a seasoned leader in national publishing, marketing, and advertising, with a career that includes roles at Time, Inc., where he worked extensively with the PEOPLE Magazine franchise, and in corporate roles at the Meredith Corporation. Jen complements this background with her own success as a seasoned finance professional and an independent wealth manager.
Jen and John are not only publishers here— they are neighbors. Full-time residents of the area, they embrace the rhythms of Vermont life with enthusiasm and care. Avid outdoor enthusiasts and devoted animal lovers, they appreciate the region’ s seasonal shifts, from snowy winters on the slopes and spring’ s new blooms to verdant Green Mountain summers and colorful autumnal vistas. That connection is perhaps most visible at their family farm in Weston, where they live with their children, who attend Burr & Burton Academy, and their dogs, chickens, and horses.
Jen’ s lifelong involvement in the Vermont Summer Festival in Dorset is another decades long connection to the area. For more than 30 years, she has competed in the Hunter and Jumper divisions of the celebrated equestrian event.
In fact, Jen’ s love for horses has inspired content across all GMMG’ s Summer and
