even more feedback from managers

A: I started playing Managersim/Soccersim back in 1999-2000, when I was at high school. I dont recall how my friends and I ended up being introduced to the game, but soon the word spread around and a handful of managers from my school began playing what was the most exciting football game management simulation back then - and still is. I was pretty much clueless about the game engine and I knew I lacked the time, the proper motivation and the knowledge to play the game at its full potential. Nonetheless I had a ton of fun.

And while RealityGame, University and other stuff brought me apart from the game back then, the feeling of fun was always a good remembrance from its early days.

When I was told that the game was back online near 2005 - in fact, it has been running for a while before I rejoined it - I just had to sign in and be part of the community once again. With some of my old colleagues, I was again hooked on Soccersim, now playing Fulltest, which seemed the most competitive and exciting Gameworld. There were so many people in the game that the best team I could find for me was in Sweden. And there I was, trying to make a living as a Swedish manager, trying to win the League and reach CL, doing a lot of transfers and player developments and running the Soccersim Youth Cup when I went on vacations and my account sitter forgot to log in. I was fired due to inactivity and had to start all over.

Again, the game was so crowded that I had to take a second tier team in Hungary, but soon the opportunity came and I jumped to Italy to play Empoli. It was one of the worst teams in Serie B, and I managed to place it on top 3 teams in Italy within a few seasons.

The important part here is that I couldn’t have done it without the help of others. I've started to ask around for tips, for some tactical insights, for some explanations on what I was doing wrong and what could I do to improve my game. And some of them began to reply. I kept asking and some kept answering. Also, I approached some managers with the same doubts that I had and we tried to develop our own tools and approaches. We had our community, which lasts until today, even if most managers of the past are not currently playing it.

B: Well, it was good timing to ask that. Currently I'm the Serie A/ Italian Cup/UEFA champion, and I would like Mr. Silcock to be told that.

Seriously, I've always said that titles are not important in the game. They are great, they give us incentives to keep working hard, trying to find good players and tactical nuances but there are more important things to keep us playing, and the ability to bash a fellow manager with some nice words surely is part of it. That shows us that we still have a strong community, even if not as large as the game deserves.

C: I guess my main idea about the future of the game is for us to reach a balanced scenario where we are able to bring in corrections, new features and aesthetic improvements while keeping most of the game's engine that always differentiated it. Also, all changes must consider that manager interaction is extremely important, and this means we need a dynamic market, with managers messaging each other, looking for players, making offers, trying to outbid each other etc. Also, we - as a game and the people responsible for it (and we all are, at some extent) need - have to understand that different managers have different goals. Not everyone is aiming for the European title with a major power. Some want to have fun at a local league, some want to play with their supported club, some just want to develop young players and build superstars from the Academy... there are so many alternatives we need to think a Gameworld that harbors all different goals and projects.

This would allow old managers to return, current ones to retain while the game will look attractive to new users all around the globe.

D: I'm Thiago Netz, a Brazilian from São Paulo city, supporter of Corinthians and a member of the Managersim Initiative Board.

A: I've been playing SoccerSim/ManagerSim since 2000, where some of my friends and I found this fantastic online manager game. I'm still trying to get my friends to play again, but they do not have the time necessary... I can remember that I was manager for Næstved in Denmark and Xanthi in Greece then.

B: Currently I'm manager for Lyngby, where I've been since I returned for about 15 seasons ago. I've considered a move to one of the Major leagues, but it is hard to leave a team, witch you have build from the bottom.

C: I like this game because you can use an awful lot of time, when you want to - but you don't need to. I think you have made some great updates - but the spirit of the game i still the same.

John Colsted, Denmark

A. Yes, I played this game in its original run through its aquisition by Reality Game. I believe it was a faster ticking server. (3D perhaps?) I favored English clubs and believe I managed West Bromwich Albion and Liverpool.

B. Just casually playing the game, I haven't been too active in the community.

C. I really like developing players out of the Youth Academy. One simple idea might be a setting in the Youth Academy that says "Favor X (GK/D/M/A) position". Another idea I have (which could be a pain to implement) would be a "Draft/Scout" like interface for new Youth. Instead of automatically getting a Youth Player, perhaps you could choose from 3 different players.

A: Yes, i played i the old days until the server stop update

B: I think the game has improved a lot, and change the way we look at it. i'm o with it. just enjoying.

C: I hope to win a championship, improve youngsters
