Simon Chetcuti, a 4th dan black belt who is the owner and instructor of the club The Art of Fighting Kickboxing Malta, together with his students are ready for the championship which is to take place in Trapani, Sicily, from the 4th to the 6th of November 2011. Simon Chetcuti said that he has trained his students with strict discipline for the last 3 months.

The Championship will involve many different countries from around the world, including Malta. The Championship is organised by the WMKF (World Martial Kombat Federation).

The tournament will include among others, different styles of martial arts such as: Dan kickboxing, Muay Thai , mma, Kung fu, ju jitsu and karate.

The Maltese team The Art of Fighting is going to take part in the kickboxing and Muay Thai events where they will be fighting full contact.

The team said that all of the athletes are registered and medically certified fighters and all the fights will take place in the ring.

The rules of the kickboxing fights is that they can knock their opponent, low kicks, sweeps, middle section, high kicks while jumping or even not while jumping. The same rules apply for the Muay Thai event but in Muay Thai knee strikes in the legs, stomach and face can also be used.

The Maltese kickboxers in the team are Joseph Mark Bonello, Renalt Hayman, Alfred Bonnici and the Maltese boxer Dione Galea. In the Musay Thai event Brandon Borg, will compete, who has won many titles in kickboxing, boxing and k1.

Simon Chetcuti said he would like to thank everyone who has given their help and support to these fighters, with thanks also to the students and Dione Boxing club for their hard work.
