INTERNATIONAL FIGHT NIGHT - MALTA 7 JUNE

MALTA BOXING COUNCIL INTERNATIONAL TITLE

By Alexander Zammit

The Final countdown has started we are less than three days away from what promises to be one of the best fight shows of the year. As with most fight shows changes have occurred. Malta’s Daniel Micallef vs Germany’s Gierke for the 69Kg MBC International Title is confirmed.

However local professional boxer, Clayton Vella is still in doubt if he will make it into the ring, after his German opponent the undefeated Alexander Menges, could not make it to Malta after his injury earlier this month in Berlin.

Some very exciting fights are on the undercard of this international fight night. Pier Paulo Cardinali of Italy takes on former Commonwealth (British Empire) lightweight champion and WBU champion David Burk of Liverpool, England. Pier Paulo is no stranger to the Maltese Islands, what makes Pier Paulo different from most fighters is that he is a medical doctor by profession.

At 87 Kg - Turkish boxer Ali Keklikvs has his professional debut against Arouna Calibaly. Ali is presently residing in Malta and has been in heavy training for this fight.

At 90 Kg – The popular local promoter Demis Tonna, has decided to go back into the ring to take on another local Shawn il-Pasu, Local fight fans eagerly await this clash, which carries some important bragging rights for the winner on the local boxing scene.

There are also a number of warm up bouts for the night and the promoters have also not forgotten to entertain the boxing fans during intermission and Robert G accompanied on the Guitar by Duncan Agius will be rewarding the crowd with his vocal skills. Singing will be followed by a group from ‘Sharks On Earth’ Break Dance school demonstrating their Break Dance abilities.

All of this is happening this Friday the 7th of June at ‘The Bugibba Hotel’ (TBH) in Qawra, Malta. Doors open at 7PM.

Tickets for the event are available at the door or by pre-booking on 99461751.
