He went on to reflect on Bob’ s more recent chapter as a consultant:“ Since stepping into that role, I’ ve seen a rebirth of his energy. He stays up at night thinking about how to help others succeed. There are very few people who combine Bob’ s level of passion, honesty, and genuine care for his clients’ success.”
As Nick concluded, attendees rose to their feet in a welldeserved standing ovation. Bob then took the stage, visibly moved, to accept the Beacon Award and thank the community that has supported him throughout his journey.
Congratulations to Bob Maffei on this milestone achievement!
On April 15, 2025, family, friends, and colleagues gathered to celebrate an exceptional moment in the landscape industry: Bob Maffei, MCLP, owner and CEO of The Maffei Companies, LLC, was honored with MALP’ s highest recognition— the Beacon Award.
Beacon Award Nominations
Established in 2001, the Beacon Award shines a light on industry leaders whose example guides, inspires, and challenges others. This year, that light found Bob Maffei— whose career has been defined by steadfast dedication, visionary leadership, and a deep commitment to the landscape industry.
The award was presented by longtime friend and fellow industry leader Nick DiBenedetto, owner of ND Landscape, Inc., who paid tribute to Bob with a heartfelt and humorous speech, filled with stories that illustrated their shared journey and mutual respect.
“ As the years rolled on,” Nick recalled,“ we realized pretty quickly that we were essentially tied together as brothers— battling the daily grind of entrepreneurship and navigating our way through this fabulous industry with all the joys and challenges that come with owning a landscape business.”
“ One of my hobbies is visiting other landscape companies— and I’ ve seen more than 50 across the country,” Nick said.“ The tightest ship I’ ve ever seen? Maffei Landscape. From the impeccable grounds to the thoughtful layout of the offices, the trucks, the uniforms, the systems— it was all a marvel. Every detail spoke to Bob’ s tireless pursuit of excellence.”
