Guidance
NALP, in partnership with the Latino Landscape Network, has developed a set of practical resources and guidelines to assist with navigating immigration compliance. These resources not only help you prepare your business for compliance but also provide guidance on how to communicate with your team, show empathy, and support employees who may be feeling uncertain or fearful.

Develop a written response protocol for government enforcement interactions
A written protocol helps reduce confusion and supports consistent action across branches and supervisors. It should identify decision-makers, internal contacts, and steps to follow if an enforcement interaction occurs.
Host a " Know Your Rights " information session through qualified third parties
Employers should not provide legal advice, but they can connect employees to credible education from qualified attorneys or nonprofit organizations. This can reduce fear and help employees make informed decisions for themselves and their families.
Connect employees with reputable legal or community resources
A simple resource list can be valuable during stressful periods, especially if it includes trusted local organizations and legal aid contacts. Vet resources carefully before sharing them with employees.
Monitor morale and retention closely
Fear-driven turnover can accelerate quickly if employees feel unsupported or unsafe. Managers should watch for early signs, such as increased absences, disengagement, or sudden resignations, and escalate concerns quickly.
Communicate with customers proactively
If workforce disruptions affect timelines, clear communication can preserve trust when schedules shift. Customers are more likely to respond well when they receive early notice, realistic timelines, and professional updates.
