On the other hand, other health problems kick in. As time passes by, the condition becomes severe and pain increases, massively lessening movements. Basic movements from the kitchen to the living room starts to feel like hiking Mt Kenya. In the office walking to the printer becomes an unsolved mathematical equation. With all this, you start delegating even mundane duties, further reducing mobility. With less movements, you tend to gain weight and every extra kilo adds more kilos of pressure on your knees. This feeds OA. And remember weight gain has siblings- high blood pressure and diabetics- when one comes in, the other is automatically invited.
As these physiological changes are happening the psychological problems are not left behind. Depression and anxiety won’ t let you alone, they will hunt you down like the hunters from the southern part of Sahara. This in turn will negatively affect your relationship with colleagues and family all together, potentially stalling your career.
Break the cycle before the cycle breaks you
What Employers can Adjust in the workplace
As an employer good products and great services is what you are chasing and it falls on the able shoulders of healthy and focused employees to deliver that brand promise. That should raise alarm that they need good work environment. This would be through bringing in ergonomic seats instead of 90-degreeschairs so staff can stretch and not lock, laying anti-fatigue mats on concrete, and offering flexible working hours among others.
What to do at a personal level
Every aspect of OA is brought by lifestyle, so how you live and build your routines will definitely determine your fate with Osteoarthritis. Hydration and Exercises help a lot in lubricant production at the knee joint, builds muscles that shield bone and cuts weight that would later stress the knee. Exercises also help clear brain fog, enabling the brain to remain sharp and active. Always keep in mind that for osteoarthritis Motion is lotion.
When you are in the office or at your place of work ensure to take short breaks. It doesn’ t matter if the workload is through the roof or not. The work you are doing needs you as well as your family so you have to take care of yourself as early as now before it’ s too late.
Conclusion
In conclusion, osteoarthritis creeps in like termites eating a house from within, you only see the dust when the roof caves. It will look like it’ s nothing for weeks or even months but all begins with the late-night pain, a slower step on the stair and a“ just in case” pill in your pocket or drawer. This condition does not announce its arrival, it first steals the little things that go unnoticeable like your focus, confidence until the life you built in your workplace and even at home starts to falter.
It is extremely necessary for one take care of themselves to avoid expensive preventable costs. I would advise employers especially in corporate to keenly observe and preserve the workplaces to make the employers have a favorable place to work in so that they can continue bringing good results. It is high time you moved out of“ OA is only for the old age” mindset and know that it can start as early as 35 years old and lead you to early wastage.
