MAL692025 Breaking The Curse Of Vanity Metrics | Seite 87

The wisdom of letting go can be traced back in biblical history where St Paul writes”… Forgetting what is behind me and straining towards what is ahead...” Release is a discipline. It doesn’ t deny the pain but chooses not to live chained to it.
Practical step: Ask yourself, what do I need to release to step into the New Year lighter and freer? Write down one resentment or regret from 2025 that you will not carry into 2026. Then physically destroy the paper,- burn it, shred it or release it.
Reset with intention
Most people enter January with resolutions-list of“ do more“ goals. But resolutions without reflection and release are just recycled wishes. What leaders need is not resolutions, its rhythm, a reset of how you show up daily, weekly and monthly.
One of my mentors practices a powerful December ritual. She blocks out one weekend to design her energy calendar for the New Year. Not just meetings and targets but also rest days, learning retreats and family time. She says“ If I don’ t schedule my values, someone else will schedule my year”
Resetting with intention means choosing rhythm over random, purpose over pressure and alignment over activity. Ask yourself: What rhythms will help me lead with clarity and energy in 2026.
Let’ s admit it; transitions between years are often messy. Think of moving to a house in December. You label boxes carefully,’ kitchen’,‘ books’,‘ clothes’ and somehow you find your toothbrush in a box labelled Christmas decorations. Hahaha!
That’ s what finishing and starting often feels like- messy, unpredictable even funny. The key is not perfection but perspective. If you can laugh at the chaos, you can lead through it with grace.
Research by Delloitte shows that 77 % of professionals have experienced burnout in their current role. Much of it doesn’ t come from workload alone but from the inability to pause.
For entrepreneurs and leaders, this is not optional. It’ s existential. A burnt out leader cannot build a thriving team. A depleted visionary cannot sustain a growing business which means finishing well is not just a personal gift but a corporate responsibility.
I’ m reminded of Mandela’ s story in Long Walk to Freedom. After 27 years in prison, he emerged not bitter but with clarity and forgiveness. That ability to finish a brutal chapter well was what gave him the strength to start leading a nation with hope.
Your breakthrough in 2026, won’ t come from a flawless plan. It will come from the inner strength you cultivate in this final stretch of 2025.
Final thoughts
So as December unfolds, resist the urge to rush mindlessly across the finish line. Pause, Reflect, Release and Reset. Because finishing well is not about collapsing over the line- it’ s about crossing with clarity, carrying only what matters and stepping into the New Year not drained but determined.
In order to achieve this, ask yourself: What’ s the lesson I must carry forward? What baggage must I leave behind? What rhythm will set me to thrive in 2026?
Finish well, Start Strong, and watch how 2026 won’ t just happen to you but unfold through you.
