Tied to the above , Kenya Kwanza told the hustlers that the specter of unemployment would be eradicated once they recovered the looted billions by the dynasties and create specific programs to ensure that anyone who wanted to work would be catered for .
A Kenya Kwanza government would ensure that the unnecessary wastage and theft of public funds would cease as the resultant benevolent government would ensure the safety and general welfare of all Kenyans down to the ward level .
To achieve his stratagem , the candidate had to create a credible bogeyman as the target for his verbal assault . The perfect choice was the deep state who he claimed were bent on destabilizing his mission to save Kenya .
Since he was then in government , his story had a realistic ring to it and coupled with his anti-dynasty rhetoric he soon acquired a messianic image as the selfless leader who would restore the country from the clutches of state capture .
He portrayed the image that he had singlehandedly taken on the huge government machinery to fight and protect the rights of the downtrodden Kenyan and implied he was ready to die for the cause . A true David and Goliath story .
Caught in the wave of spiritual fervor , the many churches that he had frequented and donated large sums of money were soon inviting him for special prayers for divine protection and anointed him as the chosen one who would lead Kenya back to Eden .
Kenya is a very religious country and Kenya Kwanza couldn ’ t have chosen a better place to broadcast their message of change and create an image of god-fearing church adherents who only wanted to do god ’ s will and save the beloved country .
Their religious image was burnished by the fact that the candidate ’ s spouse was a confessed prayer warrior who even claimed some miracles attributed to her faith and the running mate ’ s spouse was an ordained bishop .
For all practical purposes it looked as though Kenya had at last won the cosmic lottery as the dynamic duo traversed the country wearing the armor of divine favor , singing a redemption song for a country dangerously close to collapse .
The incumbent president was painted as an indolent , inebriated scion of a corrupt family swimming in ill-gotten wealth , bent on supporting a serial loser who had a suspect lineage of communist and socialist leanings now also branded as dynasty .
As fantastic as it may sound the Kenyan voter fell for the Kenya Kwanza scam hook , line and sinker and the wave carried the duo into an improbable win which when challenged was dismissed at the supreme court and upheld .
No sooner had the bible been put down and the duo were vested with the instruments of power in a peaceful manner than cracks began to appear of the imaginary perfect image that the duo had painted to the Kenyan public .
The maiden speech of the deputy was venomous and an embarrassment to the country as the international community invited to witness the swearing in ceremony were treated to an undiplomatic tirade of petty grievances that were irking the deputy .
Little did Kenyans suspect that this was a precursor to the new modus operandi of a government that was to be whiny and blame shifting to an extent that one now wonders why they did not just resign if the job was so onerous .
Having attained the golden chalice of political power Kenya Kwanza determined that they will drink deeply from the goblet of power as they started to fine tune a new narrative that was characterized by doublespeak .
It seemed as though having achieved an unlikely victory the Kenya Kwanza were surprised to be in power and feeling insecure and out of their depth , they decided to scuttle the whole democratic and administrative machinery to safeguard their win .
A grateful president was soon cozying with the judiciary and dispensing his largesse and offering them perks that they felt were denied them in the previous administration and they even got an invite to parliament during the presidential address .
There was a general feeling of unease regarding the sudden bromance of the executive with the judiciary soon after a favorable ruling at the supreme court as the people sensed that a fundamental tenet of separation of power was being breached .
A crack occurred to the perception of the rule of law when a raft of high-profile cases pending at the judiciary were systematically dropped or withdrawn for apparent lack of evidence including corruption and murder cases .
The fact that the cases did not go through due process and duly dismissed by the court tore to the core of the judicial system and left Kenyans wondering if the system is designed to only imprison chicken thieves and mobile phone snatchers .
The political explanation for these disappearing cases was that the former administration had engaged in a witchhunt to eliminate those that held dissenting views regarding the direction the country should be moving toward .
This claim rings hollow taking into account that if the Director of Public Prosecutions was indeed engaged in a witch-hunt , then he should have been fired at the earliest opportunity and not appointed to another high-profile government job .
Irrespective of how independent the judiciary would like to portray itself to be , no dalliance with a manipulative and smooth political operator is likely to endear them to the general public and perhaps their image is irreparably damaged .
While praising the democratic system that saw them get into power and paying lip service to the crucial role of opposition , Kenya Kwanza set out in earnest to buy politicians into their alliance to ensure that they buttress their numbers in parliament . Another crack .
It is reprehensible that a politician sponsored into parliament on a party ticket that has a clearly stated manifesto should even contemplate to switch allegiance since he is in parliament as a representative of his constituency .
A constituency cannot vote a politician into office and he unilaterally decides to decamp without consulting his voters and that is precisely why ditching one ’ s party requires the politician to seek fresh mandate from the electorate .
But what transpired next was a damning testament to the weak moral fiber of the Kenyan politician . The opportunistic and self-serving politicians were more than willing to jump ship and join the very people that they were competing against weeks earlier .
