Creating Visibility In The Corporate Space

In order to be successful in any career , it is important for professionals to find what they are good at , then show up and be the hardest working person in that area with a view to deliver value and excellence . Finding what one is good at is more than just honing in on strengths and weaknesses - it is about discovering and nurturing the unique traits that light up and make one who they are . It calls to intentionally be vicious , tenacious and eliminate the term defeat from all professional and nonprofessional talks .

To be visible in the corporate space , a few strategies are available for us . First , be distinguishable . Professionals should master the art of presenting themselves in a way that makes them unique . Ensuring that one is included in assignments that matter and contribute more than eight percent of the organization ’ s value , recognized , receive proper credit for a job well done , get considered for advancement and ultimately build influence around peers . Other ways of becoming distinguished is by volunteering to represent various work teams and participating in learning opportunities .
Secondly networking . Networking should be done to learn and grow expertise . Networking helps professionals discover new opportunities , gain career advice and remain updated on the latest industry developments . However , it is important to ensure that one is also adding value to their networks rather than only receiving . This is because with time other colleagues will start feeling misused and viewing the professionals only receiving from the network as a user . Another most important thing to consider about networking is to be sure to observe networking etiquettes such as knowing ones ’ value , thinking winwin , remembering names , observing body language , personal branding and most important how to maintain the established networks .
Third learning and unlearning . Professionals often highlight their strengths and rarely highlight weaknesses because strengths have a natural way of making everybody feel better about themselves . Finally , diversity management . The world has become so diverse with five generations being actively in the workforce now . The Silent Generation , Baby Boomers , Generation-X , Millennials and Generation-Z bring different mindsets and expectations to the office . The main question is how to co-exist even as the Alpha generation is expected to join the other generations soon . There is so much to learn from each generation . It makes things more interesting when professional involve themselves with people who bring unique experiences and ideas to the table ranging from those who are technologically inept and younger folks who only want to be TikTok famous .
