Although the Supreme Court declined to support his Big Lie to his utter disgust , some recent judgments by the Supreme Court seem to indicate that the court has been politicized . Overturning precedents because of new judges certainly dents the impartiality and the crucial credibility of the court .
But the harm has already been done ; there are millions in America that no longer believe in the integrity of the elections . Ironically it was Trump that was accused of using Russians to interfere in his 2016 victory yet here he was claiming the 2020 elections were rigged .
Trump ’ s continual refusal to concede that election and his very active involvement in the punishment of politicians that did not support his Big Lie has sent a disturbing message to the world that the method that democracy uses to elect its representatives is not only faulty but can be manipulated .
Gone are the days when America had the moral authority to supervise the world elections and by the threat of sanctions they were able to oversee free and fair elections and make public pronouncement of the same to the world . America is no longer the role model .
Kenya seems to be following America down that unfortunate democratic abyss . For starters there are contestants in this election who would not be cleared by any integrity watchdog anywhere in the world as they are either crooks , dishonest or have contravened campaigning guidelines .
They are however contesting due to being cleared by the courts . The IEBC and the milliard anti-corruption and integrity agencies have been neutered by the courts that in their wisdom have ignored the tenet that justice not only needs to be done but seen to be done .
The Kenyan courts have decided that it is better to cut the baby in two to satisfy the two claimants as per that Solomon story , rather than preserve the life of the baby . The county is awash with cases determined in lower courts being appealed endlessly to allow miscreants to vie .

That was music to the ear except that it was closing the gate after the horse had bolted , we know of many cases where a judge deliberately postponed cases to allow defendants to vie for public office . Did these judges go to the same school and are they interpreting the same Kenyan laws ?
But the real battle is in IEBC if what we are reading in the media is true . All these talks about Slovakians , Greeks , Israelis and Venezuelans is quite unsettling given that Kenya does not really have any real tight relationship with those countries , where are those shadowy characters coming from .
We hear one group claiming that the other are prepping the ground to dispute the elections results as though they have already won . The other side is insisting on having manual registers and result tallying , do they know something about the digital platform they don ’ t trust .
‘ The IEBC doth protest too much ’, while claiming that the agency is ready for the elections they proceed to claim that their lives are in danger , from who and why ? Is the agency beyond reproach and transparent . Is the secrecy to safeguard votes or to manipulate them ?

All the name callings , accusations and protestations suggest that that the August 9th elections will be digitally determined and not voter determined . The IEBC tendency for drama and playing to the gallery is not in any way helping Kenyans to have any trust in the election process .
Since Kenyans are in the curious position where the government is fighting itself , it is very difficult to tell who is telling the truth and who is lying . This may turn out to be a good thing since the political class is busy eating itself up and making the voter wiser to the machinations of the system .
The deep state is actually the political elite who manipulate the electoral process to get and maintain power not for public service but for personal economic ends . In Kenya the road to riches and political power is inextricably connected and the hustlers of today will be the dynasties of tomorrow .
It is a revolution and a power grab from within the political class and has nothing to do with the Mwanainchi ; it is all about the Wenyeinchi . The voter is a gullible pawn in a complicated game where they lend legitimacy to our version of democracy .
In the present predicament it would make sense to have a parliamentary system where the party that has most members of parliament forms the government but it is not in the constitution , the next best bet is to have the Central Bank run the elections not IEBC but that is also not in the constitution .
Since banks seem to invest in system security to ensure that money is safe and we trust the system , then it seems to make sense to borrow their expertise to run a non-hackable election , if we were serious about the integrity of digital elections , solutions are available but America has raised the big doubt .
The group with the better IT gurus in their team is set to win these elections irrespective of what the voter wants . Unfortunately , the voter is caught up in personality cults and the campaign season is a windfall for handouts not a democratic expression of the future he wants .
