Science continues to show that we do not have to sacrifice our well-being in order to succeed ; in fact , science affirms that well-being is critical to peak performance .
The four areas above are not new . We all know them , we understand them . So where does it break ? As with all good ideas , sometimes everything breaks at the execution . And this is where Arianna gives us all hope , me included .
In her book , she says that by setting targets that are too-small-to fail , we can incorporate them into our daily lives right away and begin building healthier ways of living and working . This book is a Micro step bible . With chapters dedicated to sleep , nutrition , movement , focus and prioritization , communication , and relationships , unplugging and recharging , creativity , and inspiration , and purpose / meaning , etc . it empowers people to truly thrive in all parts of their lives . ( less ).
For instance , if you take ten cups of coffee and would like to reduce , setting a target to stop taking coffee might be a struggle , but reducing by one cup and keeping this progress makes it more manageable . If you have never exercised and want to run a marathon immediately , this might also be a challenge , however walking 10 minutes a day might be achievable . Each target must

be carried out for 21 days ( at least as we build the habit ).
What micro steps have I set for myself in addition to my gym routine ?
• Stand up from my desk every two hours to walk and stretch ( I must set an alarm !).
• Sleep 30 minutes early as I strive to improve my sleep pattern .
• Take two liters of water per day ; I seem to be stuck at 1.5 liters .
• Be consistent with daily prayer and reflection for nourishment of my soul .
• Having a conscious heart of gratitude .
In closing , I invite you to make a commitment in any of the four areas . I invite you to set micro step targets to ensure success . Further , I suggest you get a peer buddy who will keep you honest as your make this change .
