Create Masterpieces
From the example above you realize a base product is good , but a masterpiece is a collaboration of different supplementary products . What is your base product or service ? What can you supplement it with to get new masterpieces that entice an even bigger client base ? Option two of the flower example attracts three kind of client bases , those that love fancy packaging , the supplementary flower options and uniqueness . Of course , option three increase this to those that love personal messages , chocolate and wine too . So , the masterpiece gives clients more allure and thus you grow the base targeted .
Tango
The culmination of your business idea is a solution to an existing problem . The solution is an amalgamation of small ideas often existing solutions if not new revolutionary abstracts . The motivation of a business idea starts from solving a problem and thus the first take prudently is to find ideas that can supplement one another as a formidable solution .
The illustration of air travel can give us good insights on collaboration . The main aim is to transport people and goods from point A to B efficiently and cost effectively . The base product here is efficient travel by air . The choice of aircraft brand , the interior design of the carriage , the ambience at the airlines ’ lounge , the pricing model , the customer experience from flight search , to booking , boarding , cruise and disembarking is where they differentiate themselves . The segmentation of the flight experience and pricing come into play .
The masterpiece in this instance being the first-class cabins and their tantalizing offerings . The décor and ambience , personal service and exquisite design customized to each VVIP can be similar as is different from one airline to another . The entertainment selection is wider , the personal space is more elaborate , the menu is exceptional and personal service is to die for . From how you are saluted , oh my ! Do you know they pre-screen the stewards and literally train them for their VVIP experiential ?
The whole set up is a big collabo ! A full orchestra ensemble , a tug team affair , a fluid
envious tango . The different products and services across leading brands that come together to offer air travel experience prove that collaboration is key . Brands have to “ tango ” to create value chains across industries and offer best solutions to their clients . All professions play in concert for this product and service offering . Engineers build the aircraft , marshals guide it , chefs create cuisines specifically for them , space scientists ’ geo-route and monitor them , stewards man them as pilots do their thing . Each professional plays a role in delivering quality experience and service .
Another sector that we could review is the automotive industry . The base product here could be described as building vehicles that are robust and fit the bill to be used to move goods and people on land from point A to point B . It is evident that different components from different brands are fitted together to build any one vehicle . These can be enhanced by having superior feature products that increase the value of any given vehicle . Other products that are made from collaboration efforts are electronics such as computers . They have processor chips , memory cards , mother board , speakers , screens , keypads , cursor pads among other components that are drawn from different brands .
It is now factual to say that collaborations grow business , create new value and increase the market scope for a product or service . This is the more reason why collaboration among musical or visual or any other artists create new masterpieces . We also now can confidently say that even collaborations between scientist , engineers and others contribute immensely to the solutions in medicine , architecture , machinery , pharmaceutical technology and so much more .
As entrepreneurs , business owners and leaders across disciplines and industry , we now must be more deliberate to create avenues for collaboration . It is in these collaborations that innovations and inventions thrive . We have a better chance to succeed when we come together . The case of the Kenyan renown travel agency Bonfire Adventures show how services and products can be curated to create value for different sector players and increase the target client base . In our businesses we are now required to step up and be intentional in collaborations within and without our circles if we are to succeed even further .
Like the tango we must be in step with the rhythm and dance with our hearts . Any stiffness is detectable and thus we are required to be fluid and with precision go through the moves . For this to be achieved just like in an orchestra , we must do this over and over . It will be exhausting , it will be expensive , it will require lots of time , but it must be done .
