Leaders develop loyal employees . Loyal employees transform teams to the organizations with their talent , contribution , hard work and sacrifices . Like customers , employees also go through a process while developing loyalty . Exposure , opportunities , and support play an important role along with organizational culture , values , vision , and team dynamics .
Leaders control the vision and resources . They generate opportunities and provide exposure to their team . Team dynamics sprouts from values and culture which are nurtured by the leaders . Hence , leaders always play a key role in developing a team of loyal employees . Their outlook , treatment and behavior provides a stimulus for team development .
Employees make excellent organizations . Excellence then becomes gravitational , binding and a driving force . Five out of seven factors identified by McKinsey ( Structure , Staff , Skills , Shared Values and Style ) for organizational excellence are ' people factors '. Hence , the team shares a major portion of the credit or dis-credit in organizational excellence or failure . An excellent organization requires a different set of employees . They complement each other . They kick each other up rather than pulling them down .
Organizations successfully create a culture of ' internal customers ' and work on creating positive team dynamics in order to achieve organizational excellence . The team knows that their flight shall not take off unless everyone is boarded . Everyone is certainly worried about getting a space for his / her hand-baggage but at the same time , they are equally concerned about the completion of the boarding process . Reaching the destination on time is the function of inclusiveness . The team realizes the power of one . One ' lost employee ' can delay the ' arrival '.
In the nutshell , team formation is an organic process . A team usually gets sprouted by an organic process . However , sometimes a leader takes the lead in team formation by inspiring and attracting talented and hardworking people . They work towards the mission and form a team .
Either a team or a leader comes first . Initially , everyone does everything but as the team grows , the specializations emerge . Employees create excellent teams and transform them into mega organizations by scaling up operations and attracting more and more talented people . The slowest member of the team defines the collective speed hence providing support becomes the most important concern of all the team members .
Cohesiveness provides synergy and strengthens bonds . How to transform teams into excellent organizations remains a major leadership challenge .
