alluded to earlier . It is amazing that we get to watch their compiled videos with abated breath and the adrenaline rush is transposed to us as we watch . We flinch as they jump , we gasp in their RAMBO moves . We curse them as they jump and bless them when they land safely . We cannot believe that this can be done but keep watching out for their next video releases .
Entrepreneurs are dare devils just like ace pilots , skydivers and base jumpers . How we take our flights and drops determine how we are addressed . When we are structured and formal , we are called investors . When we have some form of structure and checklist then we could be called skydivers . When we jump at opportunities with little or no checklist then it is safe to be called base jumpers .
Ace pilots captain a vessel of flight , may have passengers , luggage , a ground and in-flight crew . A skydiver mostly has a support crew and possibly one or two passengers who can be carried one at a time . As a base jumper it ’ s all on you . The support crew can only watch you from a distant with little or no input in your flight . They just lay in wait and mainly are there for the jumpers ’ safety .
Whichever way you look at it all sky ventures have risks . Just like all business ventures whatever the level of engagement carry risks . All the preparation for any flight or sky drop goes towards a set route and destination . The background work is so intricate and aligned that one missstep could spell disaster .
It is therefore important to note that no slack is acceptable for those involved as the flight team . Whether they serve as ground crew or in-flight crew . All crew keep tabs with the vessel from take off until the flight gets to its intended destination . For many of us as passengers all we see are composed cool fellas with smiles . Yet it goes without saying that the preparation for any singular flight has to be meticulous . The brains , sweat and muscle put to good use and cemented on faith cumulatively add on to having a successful flight .
However , we have to accept that no matter how prepared we are disasters do happen . Even with all the checks and outstanding professional input , parts of a flight vessel may fail . Sometimes it is professional negligence that occasions disasters and at other times it is out of our hands . Nature
has anger issues .
And in the whiplash of natures ’ anger ; whirlwinds , tornadoes , hurricanes , typhoons , tsunamis , tremors , mudslides , earthquakes , lightening and their ilk creep on us . They waylay us in our plans which include flights among others .
Many times , we have delays in take-off as we wait on weather . We bump into bad weather on our flight routes and we either contend but it is always advisable to go round them while still keeping our eyes on the intended destination . A re-routed journey adds to our flight hours . May cost the airlines more in man-hours , fuel and engine service but we have to do whatever it takes for the safety of passengers , crew , the vessel and the general public .
Life is never lived on plans . It is lived going round plans when things go wrong . It is in capturing the best as life turns on natures ’ twirls and dives . We build resilience , wisdom and new technology as we re-route around natures whiplash or the dangers that our own slack avails .
Disasters are hard to live with more so recover from . We do not know when they will occur but we are certain disasters will come our way . The Boxing Day 2004 tsunami dealt a deadly blow to fourteen countries . With Indonesia , India , Thailand and Sri Lanka feeling the heavy brunt of its anger . Over 230,000 lives were feared lost or missing . It displaced over two million people from the shores of Africa and Asia .
The aftermath of this giant tidal wave brought economies of the affected countries into jeopardy and further put into caution other dependent economies of the world . Picture the survivors ’ dilemma and frustration as they came to terms with the 2004 end of year disaster . The guardian newspaper of 23rd December , 2009 five years after the Boxing Day tsunami disaster records that life was slowly rolling into a new way of living . Picking up the pieces after a disaster is not an easy feat .
Three lessons we can pick from the recovery plan of the Asian countries after the 2004 Tsunami are outlined hereunder :
Harbor In Goodwill
When life changes and disaster strikes it follows that we trace and place blame to individuals . It is absolutely fine for individuals to take responsibility and any slack on their part be squarely
