suspicious of each other . He claimed that the enemy of the people was the media including the democrats not Russia or North Korea .
His rhetoric radicalized violent groups of white nationalists and Americans became insular and bigoted as they rallied behind his call to keep out outsiders . We do know that the much hyped ridiculous southern wall was mainly a public relation exercise to engage his base .
Seventy million people voted for this demagogue and he had over the four years so brainwashed them that ‘ his truth ’ and not the ‘ real truth ’ was what mattered . It was depressing to see his erstwhile bitter opponents become his diehard sycophants and lose any last vestige of integrity .
Ochieng would like to remind you that if that scenario appears to be surreal and improbable for such intelligent people as the Americans then you should pause and take a deep breath since the same shenanigans are taking place in our own backyard .
The country has been polarized by those claiming to represent the hustler nation against the dynasties . The fact that there is no hustler in the hustler team seems irrelevant for they have managed to subsume the working class and small scale businesses into their ranks .
We have been treated to ridiculous conspiracy theories that the ‘ deep state ’ read dynasties , are out to impoverish Kenyans and control them until Christ returns while the other side is claiming that the ‘ deep state ’ are the land grabbers and tenderpreneurs .
So vicious and crazed is this fight that the political parties no longer hold people ’ s loyalty . The government is busy fighting itself with the help of those not in government who appear to be more in government than those in the government .
We do know that we copy pasted the American constitution with minor amendments but Ochieng would like to believe we did not adopt the current American psyche where insults were the order of the day and misinformation the menu every day .
We now worship our former oppressors and we laud those that have stolen from us . In the recent past a former governor impeached for embezzlement and misuse of power had the temerity to offer his candidature for another county . How pathetic can things really get ?
Kenyans are not even trying to pretend to have integrity as one hears politicians bragging that they will vote in their thief since the other side also has thieves . What this means is that whoever wins we are still stuck with thieves , how will we ever offload this cabal of thieves ?
Americans knew before they voted that they were voting in a dangerous and unqualified person to the highest office in the land but they went ahead and did it anyway and in four short years they can hardly believe what a mess they created for their country .
In the selfish interest that they get voted back into office , politicians supported the devil and sold their soul to him and he has bequeathed them a country torn by strife and fear , deeply divided and bitter to the point that they tried to steal an election .
We voted two governors that have since been impeached , knowing fully well that they were incompetent and grossly unqualified to manage such a lofty office but we went ahead and voted them in anyway and the results are foregone conclusions .
It is ironical that it was the American ambassador that told Kenyans that choices have consequences , that advice would have been apt for the American voter four years ago but the fact that he was preaching water and drinking wine does not remove the sting from the admonition .
Choices do have consequences and next year Kenyans will go to the ballot to make their choices and unless you stupidly assume that America is made up of dimwitted morons then you had better learn from their unfortunate experience and avoid herd mentality .
Ochieng would like to emphasize that if you choose personality over country then your loyalty is misguided . If you choose tribe over competence then your loyalty is dangerously misguided and you will decry the consequences which will be fast and furious .
If you choose a thief , you have legitimized the stealing and you should be the last to complain that the country has stagnated . If you choose a demagogue do not be surprised when one morning a neighbor turns on you as the reason why Kenya is poor .
If you choose a liar , don ’ t then turn to religious institutions and lament that they have kept quiet as the country perished . If you choose a warmonger then be prepared to die since in a war someone will die and it could very well be you and your family .
The last word is that the challenges facing this country are not insurmountable given the talent and resources locally available , Kenya can thrive but the country will not reach its potential if the voters insist on voting in incompetent nincompoops .
Americans have just emerged from a harrowing four years , just because they let down their guard and allowed an incompetent narcissist to take control of a great country because politicians were more interested in vote attracting rhetoric rather than truth .
The Republican Party is forever scarred since they traded their core values and stand for a temporary day in the sun . The short cut that the party thought it was getting by the in-your-face presidential presence has cost the party both control and internal cohesion .
Kenya does know of a ten year period that the country surged forward in development , when at the helm was a competent manager that had vision for the country not himself , worked for the nation , not his family . That type of choice is what we need to replicate to get out of our current morass .
As the politicians start to take position , guessing which wave will sweep Kenya , please remember it has nothing to do with you but simply a vehicle for them to get reelected . If a person cannot even take a stand and hold it why on earth would you follow them ?
Why would right thinking Kenyans ever dream of cheering on the side that will bring defeat to Kenya . If you think you are immune to manipulation just check on what just happened to the greatest country in the world , if it still is . Choices have consequences .
When politicians do not resign from parties they no longer support or from an administration that they don ’ t agree with , then the recipe are ready for those who look out only for themselves and at core are dishonest and manipulative . We must shun them !
