After you left Nairobi Hospital its steadfast corporate brand image has taken a serious thrashing resulting in endless changes in management akin to musical chairs . What in your view would help return this brand to its glorious days ?
From where I sit , The Nairobi Hospital has the best location in Nairobi - Upperhill due to easy access to its target population in the southern western suburbs , has the best concentration of specialists in one area , has invested in a well trained workforce , is the best equipped and well appointed hospital in the region and it just needs to build on these strengths by fostering a better culture of cohesion from board level , the management , the professional cadres , the general staff population , enhance its customer service by restoring worker morale and adopt patient centric processes and the rest as they say , will be history .
What key advice would you volunteer regarding scaling up our healthcare sector in the midst of our out-rightly delicate
balance between politics , business and health ?
Covid-19 has offered the best opportunity for investing in the health sector as we have become more aware of the needs in primary care , the inadequacy of our diagnostics facilities , human resource shortages , weaknesses ’ in our supply chains making a strong case for local manufacturing . We should accept health as a business with the government and politicians providing policy and oversight through legislation , provision of incentives and create the right environment for rapid change
Your closing remarks ?
We are at a crossroads in the country as relates to the health sector and unless we adapt and change rapidly and offer equity on how our services are provided all aspirations for us to meet our development goals will not come to fruition
