a big doubt on the uniqueness of such numbers unless the government is not telling us something. All things said and done the contentious Huduma Namba registration has gone completely quiet with a lot of people holding slips of paper supposedly to claim their cards but all is silent on that front. It is difficult not to be a conspiracy theorist when the government goes mum. Rumors circulated that a phase two of the Huduma registration would take place and the government went as far as fast- tracking the issuance of new ID cards to enable Huduma Namba registration. It sounds crazy to get an ID in order to get an ID. But it is not only in the issuance of identification papers that Kenyans are irrational, in November our children in primary and secondary schools sat for the exams that will allow them to proceed to secondary schools and University. This is a normal exercise in most parts of the world except that in Kenya it is high drama. The setting of the exams is a high security undercover operation where the setters are sworn to secrecy and speak on a need to know basis only. to sit exams for them. This is because exam cheating has become a multi-million shilling business and the exam leakages Mafia go to great lengths and expense to acquire the papers that will allow many Kenyan parents to sleep peacefully knowing they have done their duty in helping their children pass the exams. We teach our children to cheat and that money can buy everything that they need and wonder how come our institutions and industries are failing. Kenya has become a deal making country and everybody is a tender deal away from his or her breakthrough. The same parents will throw a thanksgiving party for their children and friends to celebrate the superior grades that the children have achieved as they remind anybody willing to listen that hard work and prayer achieves miracles. Distribution of the exam papers is a military logistical exercise and those sitting for exams are guarded more than a President to ensure that there is no cheating among the students and that teachers do not assist students with answers. It is a sad country that takes time to congratulate the administration on the fact that it was able to deliver a cheat-free exam suggesting that cheating is the norm. We were discussing IDs at birth to also ensure that candidates do not hire others As more and more people begin to work from home due to technological advancement don’t be surprised when Kenyans start hiring people in Singapore or India to work for them and file their reports for them as they keep jobs they are not working at. It is this same dishonesty that allows elections to be about who has the money rather than who has the ideas to move the country forward. Even those that have the ability are soon swallowed by those that go into politics to make money. A handshake happened and we all drew a general sigh of relief as we were tired of incessant negative energy where the government could do nothing right from the opposition point of view and national bickering was the national pastime.
