In so doing, real estate companies are positioned as thought leaders rather than just“ sellers” that will give their competitors no chance. It’ s a unique value proposition that will appeal to the buyer because it goes beyond what the market offers. In an age of online reviews and social media, a company no longer owns its brand; its customers do. So external communication must now involve active community management. A negative Google review for a managed property is as important as a billboard in the Central Business District. Authentic engagement on platforms like Instagram and LinkedIn helps firms humanize their brand and build the brand story and the people behind the projects. The“ Golden Thread” that connects internal and external communication is transparency. Transparency is often treated with suspicion in real estate, but in today ' s world of business, it is a competitive advantage.
The data can be used to prove ROI to inves tors and to demonstrate how their building is performing in terms of energy efficiency. And if the ideas were implemented in line with the firm’ s suggestion, they would be successful. These and other aspects of communication will be further developed in the future by Artificial Intelligence( AI). AI can be used to provide consumers with hyper-personalized external communication, so that it can provide the right information to them based on their life stage, lifestyle and preferences. But this kind of technology can only really be adopted internally. Real estate businesses must engage with AI and data analytics to better understand their own workforce and customers’ interests. Real estate companies need to embrace internal and external communication. We are moving toward the era of " The Big Secret " from the era of " The Open Book."
There is nothing to test a company’ s communication integration like a crisis whether a construction delay, a legal dispute, a market crash, etc. The internal and external messages need to be perfectly synchronized when a crisis strikes and if the external public senses there is a disconnect between a company’ s position in communication with what it is doing and what its employees are doing, the brand’ s reputation can go from good to bad virtually overnight. A company that has adopted Internal-External communication will have procedures in place to communicate with one voice. It provides staff the talking points and emotional support so they can deal with the fallout they face and the public receives the information that is clear, empathetic, and factual. The real estate company that masters this balance is not only a developer or a manager; it is a community builder. When the internal staff are viewed as the primary audience and the external public as the long-term partner, these companies develop a feedback loop of excellence.
The blueprint for success is clear: listen internally to establish a culture of brandadvocates; speak externally with authority, value, and authenticity; and connect the two with a bridge of data-driven transparency.
Real estate is about space, but communication is about connection. The companies who bridge that gap will be the ones that define the skyline of the future. " Your brand is what people say about you when you ' re not in the room. In real estate, that ' room ' is both your corporate office and your clients ' living rooms."
