How is Kibo contributing to the ESG agenda in the country?
Our ESG contribution begins with local manufacturing. By assembling motorcycles in Kenya, we create jobs, develop technical skills, and support regional supply chains.
On the social front, we promote rider safety through structured training, provide quality safety gear with every motorcycle, and support institutions delivering essential public services.
From a governance perspective, we emphasize ethical business practices, customer accountability, product quality, and long-term partnerships built on trust and transparency.
How are you helping in mitigating the high casualties from the accident-prone sector you serve?
Safety is engineered into every Kibo motorcycle. Features such as hydraulic front and rear disc brakes, progressive suspension, LED lighting, strong trellis frames, and high-quality tires are specifically designed to improve rider con- trol and visibility.
Beyond the motorcycle itself, every purchase includes a certified helmet, reflective safety jackets, rider training, scheduled maintenance, and continuous safety education. We believe reducing road accidents requires a combination of safer machines, better-trained riders, and ongoing awareness.
Boda Bodas have been branded unruly and a high security risk. What are you doing to help inculcate discipline among your direct clientele?
It is important to recognize that the boda-boda sector supports millions of livelihoods and remains indispensable to Kenya ' s economy. While isolated incidents have affected public perception, the vast majority of riders are responsible professionals.
At Kibo, we contribute to professionalizing the sector through structured rider training, mandatory safety orientation, continuous refresher programs, and promotion of responsible riding practices. We also emphasize regular maintenance, proper use of safety gear, and customer accountability.
