The language of the judgment was so uncivil and crude that one can only surmise it was authored by a rabid supporter of the winning side . Why were the insults and demeaning language necessary to communicate a position of the highest court of the land which in any case is final ?

On A Hollow Victory

If you have ever wondered if it is possible to hold two diametrically opposed feelings simultaneously then you only have to pose the question to a number of Kenyans about their emotions on the fifth of September 2022 and they will narrate some disturbing occurrences .
Many will tell you that never have they been so proud to be Kenyan since they confounded the naysayers that African countries and many other developing countries and now some developed too , are incapable of having democratic elections without reverting to violence .
It is a myth that we were able to put to rest in 2022 together with another that Kenyan ’ s are only good at distance running and not sprints , Omanyala put to rest that myth and as you can imagine Kenyans image globally was uplifted and lauded .
People went out to vote and as requested went back to whatever they usually do and waited for the tallying to be completed which took an agonizing whole week but the voters went about their normal business and waited as the independent electoral body worked .
Even before the elections there were several incidents that were suspicious enough to elicit comments and action from the national security agents , like the presence of the Venezuelans who apparently were the electoral body ’ s contracted employees but the voters kept calm .
Gubernatorial elections were suspended in two counties and some constituencies on the grounds of mismatched images and names on the ballot papers , even though the independent body had assured Kenyans on its preparedness . The voters still kept calm .
This incident also brought to light about the shady places where the ballot papers were printed not to mention the secrecy and the mystery of bringing them in . If we can print currency in this country why not ballot papers , but that is a question for another day .
In the run up to the elections there were many claims and counter claims on each side claiming that the other had planned and were going to rig the elections . There was a flurry of activities when one side wanted the use of manual registers and the other went to court to annul it .
In spite of all the aforementioned challenges the voting was orderly and peaceful and even where there were technical hitches they were eventually resolved and Kenyans were able to express their democratic will by voting
