To engage and retain them, merge the
motivations and offer clear outlines on
how they can grow with the organization
by meeting their goals. No one wants to
feel like a means to an end, with their
value limited to one promotion. With
the right direction and performance-
based rewards, a Gen Z’er can elevate any
promotion and exceed expectations.
Step 5: Train on the
importance of Financial
Stability
More than any other generation, financial
stability is a key driver for Gen Zs. They
safeguard all their income because they
have experienced the effects of debt
by observing millennials. Planning is
important to them, as they work hard
to stay out of debt as much as possible,
despite having greater financial access
than any other generation. You will find
that they seek full-time jobs but are also
avid players in the Gig Economy where
they seek avenues to make some extra
coin.
Offering financial planning training can
go a long way in retaining a powerful
marketing workforce. It is an indication
that the employer cares about the growth
of the employee and offers them a skill
that adds value to their personal goals.
Gen Z will work hard as long as they want
to do the job, rather than a commitment
on the need for the job to be done. If they
do not want to, they may find they feel
forced to work making their employers
feel as though they are drawing water
from a stone. Millennials on the other
hand will ensure that any task they are
given is fulfilled.
Gen Zs essentially want to feel
empowered, with the opportunity to have
a say over their work schedule. They do
not fully understand how corporates work
and therefore view many processes as BS.
Although they may show a façade of
confidence, they are also highly anxious
and nervous, especially with the skills that
they have at hand. They often face harsh
criticism from their peers and may feel
compelled to conform or go with a crowd.
