shade of trees and playing with an animal were very useful in helping me cope with pain. Nothing new under the sun There’s no pain you’ll face that another person has never faced. If it’s a failed relationship for example, there’s plenty of content on the subject. I read through books to see just how other people dealt with their pains and picked their two cents. I’m still doing so. It has a term too I came to learn, ‘biblio-therapy’ i.e. reading through books as a means therapy. Write it out I write prayers to the Lord, stories of people facing what I’m facing, bitching letters, whatever I feel at the moment I need to and that’s my release. It works. Just make sure no one reads the bitching letters! Be as productive as you can be It’s easy when you’re sad or depressed to lie in bed and do hardly anything all day but you can take incremental steps towards productivity. Start with just one thing per day and congratulate yourself for that. In good time you’ll be back to the same person with the ‘S’ on your chest. Oh! Take walks as well, it’s a form of exercise. Exercise releases endorphins- happy hormones. Those are my tidbits. They worked for me I’m sure they’ll work for many others as well. In conclusion, I’d like to urge, if you’re reading this, please take the time to understand and appreciate mental health. The ways in which my mind has been opened up from the little reading I have done on the subject is phenomenal and yet I’m just starting. We are His genius. No matter how bad the situation may be, He remains watchful and has your way out in mind. God bless! I’d also like to share what a voice, higher and wiser than my own, a voice I like to believe is the Lord’s. The voice said, “Marion, no matter your missteps you remain my genius.” Marion Wakahe is a Marketing Consultant with a knack for upcoming marketing trends.
