Harris County Urban Youth Development Agent, Fralonda Aubrey-Anderson, and twenty-eight students from Cristo Rey Jesuit College Preparatory of Houston participated in the Texas A&M University Educational Tour. The tour started with a short overview of the campus. Students learned about some of the A&M traditions and enjoyed saying HOWDY! to everyone as they went by throughout the day. Araceli Trejo, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Recruiter, provided a short presentation and information about various Agri-science majors to explore. Dr. Leslie Frenzel and student “Drew” provided a remarkable tour of the Rosenthal Meat Science and Technology Center.

The students and chaperones were highly inquisitive with the operations of the meat production and processing facility. After the tour, the group enjoyed sampling beef jerky made on campus at the Rosenthal facility.

The day ended with a tour of the Howdy Farm and Horticulture and Forest Science Building Atrium. Antoinette Morris, a horticulture student, and the farm coordinator, Corey, answered several questions from the students and teachers.

Students completed evaluations and several expressed their appreciation for the trip and excitement for the experience.
