STEP 3: All change By experimenting with the position of the pivot-point and the linkages, discover how to gain the maximum degree of movement e. g. making two parts move at the same time.( See Figure 2).
STEP 4: STEP 4: Sketch Once the problems of movement have been solved, turn your attention to completing the‘ visible’ side of the designs with different colours and textures. Try to‘ mask’ the heads of the fasteners as much as possible, or they can become pattern details.

LEVEL UP

Extend your monster making tasks to include one that actually flies! Construct a cone shape from thin card or wrapping paper. Reinforce the larger end with tape and make four evenly spaced holes around the edge. Tie lengths of line through the holes and join the lines together to support the windsock evenly. Then decorate. The cone can be painted to form the body and head, and streaming tails and paper wings can be added. Tether to a post outside and, on a windy day, the mythical beast will fly.( See Figure 3)
