Interview w/ Noah Kuczkowski

by Brandon Brorby

I was given the privilege to interview Music Industry major and longtime friend, Noah Kuczkowski this week. He and I got to catch up a little bit since he left for York College in Pennsylvania. Through-out this interview, I was reminded of great memories I’ve had with Noah and learned things I had not previously known about him. I also sought information about his major, what it would be like in a day of the life of a music major. I decided to contact him via Facebook and ask him a few questions about his life and experience with music, as well as what it’s like to study music industry.

Music seems to be a huge part of your life. What made you choose this path?

I’ve always felt it was some-thing I could be successful at. I didn’t think I was talented enough to play instruments professionally, but I feel like I know what I’m doing with the technology behind it, which is why I chose to study music industry.

Who/what inspired you to choose this path?

My dad was the one who got me into it. He taught me how to play guitar when I was 13 and let me use all his old recording equip-ment.

What is your major and what exactly does it entail?

My major is “music industry and recording technology”, which covers instrumental and music theory skills and focuses on studio tech and commercial business.

How long have you been involved with music?

I officially started playing guitar when I was 13, but I had tried playing piano a little before that. I’d say it’s been about 6 years.

What instruments do you play? Which is your favorite to play?

I play guitar, bass guitar, drums, and a little piano. I absolutely love playing drums, but it’s difficult to practice because they are so loud and require a lot of space. I’m more skilled at playing guitar because of this.
