Congratulations!
CONGRATULATIONS Maine Music Educators Association (MMEA) on the celebration of
your centennial, 1917 - 2017. One hundred years of dedication and you continue to do
exemplary work fulfilling your mission: to promote and advance music education by
providing a voice and venue for advocacy and advancement of music education in Maine.
You stand on the shoulders of giants as you continue to shift with the changing educational
landscape. I believe your success lies in your flexibility and your willingness to do what’s
best for all student levels. Thank you!
The Maine Arts Leadership Initiative (MALI) (formerly the Maine Arts Assessment
Initiative) has valued the partnership with the MMEA during the last six years. The music
educators who serve as MALI teacher leaders have contributed enormously to the arts
education field by expanding their knowledge and sharing their work with others. They’ve
been terrific ambassadors for MMEA and arts education. MALI looks forward to new
applicants this year and encourages MMEA members to apply.
As you launch into your next 100 years I know that you will continue to provide support for
Maine music educators guiding them to meet the schools and their student’s needs. Thank
you for the leadership that you exhibit daily.
Here’s to your next AMAZING 100 years!
Best Wishes,
Argy Nestor, Director of Arts Education, Maine Arts Commission
