The May Jazz Meeting I know a meeting is not the top event on our “to-do” list for the conference, but the May jazz meeting provides a rare opportunity for educators to meet in person and discuss important issues and improvements to jazz activities in the state of Maine. Teachers who attend or wish to attend state jazz events should have a voice at this meeting. Thus far our agenda includes discussion of the following items: • New policies and hotel protocol for Jazz All State • Review of this year’s state jazz festivals • Discussion of the district rotation sequence at state jazz festivals • Review of host bids for the next two years of state jazz festivals • Discussion of the goals of district jazz festivals • Refining the state instrumental jazz festival adjudication sheets to match the medal system The agenda is still under construction and will be distributed to the membership well before the meeting.
