STATEWIDE ARTS EDUCATION CENSUS In my role at the Maine Arts Commission (MAC) I am incredibly grateful for the 95.2 response to the statewide arts education census that was conducted earlier in 2016. I know that many of you helped complete the information and submit the school survey. As you can imagine with such a large response to the survey there is a ton of data. A comprehensive report is being created and will be available this fall. I am hoping you will take time and think about the following, and email me your thoughts at [email protected]: • How can the recent statewide arts education census provide you with data that will be useful in your local programming and advocacy efforts? Mattanawcook Academy (Lincoln) Music teacher and Maine Arts Leadership Initiative teacher leader Trevor Marcho sharing "Why I Teach" MAINE ARTS LEADERSHIP INITIATIVE (MALI) The Maine Arts Leadership Initiative (MALI), now in the 6th year, is proud of the partnership they continue to have with the Maine Music Education Association. MALI will be providing five megaregional all-day workshops throughout the state. MALI teacher leaders, who participated in 3-day summer institute, will facilitate the workshops. New, this year to the initiative, are four teaching artist leaders that will offer workshops. Planning is underway for the dates and locations and as this information becomes available it will be posted on the blog at [email protected].
