STATEWIDE ARTS EDUCATION CENSUS
In my role at the Maine Arts Commission (MAC) I am incredibly grateful for
the 95.2 response to the statewide arts education census that was
conducted earlier in 2016. I know that many of you helped complete the
information and submit the school survey. As you can imagine with such a
large response to the survey there is a ton of data. A comprehensive report
is being created and will be available this fall. I am hoping you will take time
and think about the following, and email me your thoughts at

• How can the recent statewide arts education census provide you with data
that will be useful in your local programming and advocacy efforts?

The Maine Arts Leadership
Initiative (MALI), now in
the 6th year, is proud of
the partnership they
continue to have with the
Maine Music Education
Association. MALI will be
providing five megaregional all-day workshops
throughout the state. MALI
teacher leaders, who
participated in 3-day
summer institute, will
facilitate the workshops.
New, this year to the
initiative, are four teaching
artist leaders that will offer
workshops. Planning is
underway for the dates and
locations and as this
information becomes
available it will be posted
on the blog at
