LICENSE REQUIREMENTS AND FEES
MAINE LIFETIME LICENSE
Pass on a Maine Tradition and a Gift that will Last a Lifetime
Your investment in a lifetime license for yourself or as a gift will allow the bearer to fish, trap, and / or hunt for their lifetime, regardless of where they will live in the future. The revenues generated by the sale of these licenses will be deposited in a special trust fund that will provide long-term financial support for Maine’ s fish and wildlife.
FREE FISHING DAYS
Free fishing days 2026 dates: February 14-15, 2026 and May 30-31, 2026. On these days, any person( except those whose license has been suspended or revoked) may fish without a license. All other laws and regulations apply on these days.
SUPER PACK LICENSE
This license, available to Maine residents only, permits an eligible person to hunt and fish for all legal game and fish species, subject to all of the laws governing fishing, hunting, and archery. The Super Pack License includes muzzleloader, migratory waterfowl, pheasant, spring / fall turkey, bear hunting, coyote night hunt, one either-sex expanded archery permit, and three expanded archery antlerless permits.
Applicants 70 Years of Age
For a one-time fee of $ 8.00, a senior lifetime license entitles the holder to all privileges they are qualified to receive including hunting, trapping, archery, and fishing. The license also includes the following: bear hunt, bear trap, migratory waterfowl( state permit), pheasant, spring and fall turkey, coyote night hunt, muzzleloader, one expanded archery antlerless deer permit, and one expanded archery either-sex permit.
The license includes a dog training and hunting permit which must be obtained through the MDIFW Augusta office via phone, email, mail, or in-person. It also includes one free chance in the moose lottery and entry into a special category in the antlerless deer permit lottery. Person must meet all respective safety course requirements to hunt with individual methods( i. e. firearms, archery, etc.).
( Must still apply for antlerless deer and moose permits each year when applications become available.)
Note: If you purchased a senior lifetime license before age 70, you do NOT have to pay the $ 8.00 fee, and the permits listed in the previous paragraph are included with your lifetime license anytime during the calendar year you turn 70 years of age.
