ECONOMIC CONTRIBUTION HIGHLIGHTS
In 2023 , the size of Maine ’ s direct golf economy was approximately $ 395.5 million , while the NGF estimates that the industry contributed $ 527 million ( direct , indirect and induced ) to the wider Maine economy that year . Golf ’ s economic impact in Maine compares favorably to that of industries such as boating & fishing ($ 412 million ) 1 , wild blueberries ($ 350 + million ) 2 , RVing ($ 326 million ) 1 , and craft brewing ($ 260 million ) 3 . Golf supports 6,200 jobs with $ 191 million of wage income and generates more than $ 57.8 million in state and local taxes .
